When sending SMS messages using a custom sender ID, recipients cannot reply directly. In this case, it’s essential to include an opt-out link in your message to give recipients a clear and easy way to unsubscribe.
The platform provides a built-in option to insert a compliant Opt-Out Link into your message content.
Inserting an Opt-Out Link
To insert an opt-out link when composing your message, click the Opt Out dropdown in the message box and select Opt Out Link.
A short opt-out URL (e.g. https://sms.link/abc123
) will be inserted. When the recipient clicks the link, they’re taken to a landing page to confirm their request to unsubscribe.
Once confirmed, their mobile number is automatically added to your designated Opt-Out List, and they will no longer receive messages associated with that list.
Using Multiple Opt-Out Lists
If you are utilising multiple opt-out lists (e.g. for marketing, alerts, or different regions), each list has its own unique opt-out link.
When you insert the opt-out link into a message, it will be tied to the specific Opt-Out List selected for that send. This means:
-
Recipients are only opted out of the category of messages linked to that list
-
They can still receive messages from other lists (e.g. opting out of marketing but still receiving service alerts)
