Sender IDs
With Edgility, you can send SMS messages using two types of Sender IDs:
Alpha Sender ID (Business Name)
An Alpha Sender ID is a branded name (e.g. your business name) that appears as the sender of your SMS messages.
Key things to know:
- Displays your business or brand name instead of a phone number
- Customers cannot reply to messages sent from an Alpha Sender ID
- Can only be used when sending to Australian mobile numbers
- Must be registered and approved by ACMA
- Once registered, the Sender ID is available to all users on the account
Edgility is a multi-user platform
- Alpha Sender IDs are shared across your entire account
- They only need to be registered once per account
- Registration must be completed by an authorised business representative
Verified Number (Mobile Number)
A Verified Number is a mobile number you own and verify in Edgility.
Key things to know:
- Messages are sent from a real mobile number
- Customers can reply, and replies go directly to that handset
- You are responsible for:
- Managing replies
- Handling opt-outs
- Edgility cannot intercept replies sent via other carriers
Registering an Alpha Sender ID
Due to new ACMA regulations, all Alpha Sender IDs must now be registered.
Register an Existing Sender ID (Recommended)
If you already have Sender IDs in your account:
- Go to: Settings → Sender IDs
- Locate the Sender ID in the list
- If the status shows Unverified, click VerifyThis will:
- Open the registration form
- Pre-fill the Sender ID
- Prevent duplicate Sender IDs across the account
- Complete the registration form:
- Business Information
- Business Address
- Authorised Representative Details
- Complete Identity VerificationYou will see one of the following:
- Use a previously verified identity ✅
(if your account has already completed identity verification) - Verify a new identity
(if this is the first registration on the account)
If verifying a new identity:
- The authorised representative will receive an email
- They must upload a photo ID via a secure portal
- Use a previously verified identity ✅
- Confirm the declaration and submit the registration
Register a New Sender ID
If you are adding a new Sender ID:
- Go to: Settings → Sender IDs
- Click: Register an Australian Sender ID
- Complete the registration form
- Enter your new Sender ID
- Submit the application
What Happens Next
- You can continue using unverified Sender IDs while approval is pending (until 1 July 2026)
- Identity verification is required once per account, then reused
- Once ready, we submit your application to ACMA
- You will receive an email confirmation once approved
Important Notes
- Sender IDs are shared across all users on the account
- Only one authorised representative needs to:
- Complete the initial registration
- Complete identity verification
- After verification:
- Future Sender ID registrations are faster
- No additional ID upload is required
- Clicking Verify from the Sender ID list is the preferred method for existing Sender IDs
- Prevents duplication
- Ensures correct account linking
Adding a Verified Number
To add your own mobile number:
- Go to Settings → Sender IDs
- Click the Verify Number tab
- Enter your mobile number
- Click Send code
- Enter the verification code received via SMS
- Click Verify & Save
Tip
You can delete a Sender ID by clicking the ellipsis icon (⋮) next to it and selecting Delete.
